Marine Layer is a San Francisco-based clothing brand founded in 2009 by Mike Natenshon. The brand was born from Natenshon’s desire to recreate his favorite vintage t-shirt that his girlfriend had thrown away. He teamed up with his friend Adam Lynch, a textile engineer, to develop a custom fabric blend of pima cotton and micromodal, a sustainable fiber made from recycled beechwood.
Marine Layer is renowned for its ultra-soft fabrics and laid-back, coastal-inspired designs. The brand offers a wide range of apparel for men and women, including shirts, pants, dresses, swimwear, outerwear, and accessories. A key initiative is the Re-Spun program, which recycles old t-shirts into new ones, diverting over 475,000 tees from landfills and saving billions of gallons of water.
With over 40 stores across the U.S., Marine Layer combines comfort, style, and sustainability, embodying a “7-day weekend” ethos.
